Our construction business is undertaken by our subsidiaries, Texas Sterling Construction Co.
and Road and Highway Builders, LLC. We are a leading heavy civil construction company that specializes in the
building and reconstruction of transportation and water infrastructure in large and growing markets in Texas and
Nevada. Our transportation infrastructure projects include highways, roads, bridges and light rail, and our water
infrastructure projects include water, wastewater and storm drainage systems. We provide general contracting
services primarily to public sector clients utilizing our own employees and equipment for activities including
excavating, concrete and asphalt paving, pipe installation and concrete placement.
Since the founding of our construction business in 1955, we have expanded our service profile and market areas.
We currently operate in several major markets, including Houston, San Antonio, Dallas/Fort Worth, and Austin, Texas
and Reno and Las Vegas, Nevada. We also have broadened our range of services, from our original focus on water and
wastewater projects, to include concrete and asphalt paving, concrete slip forming, installation of large-diameter
water and wastewater distribution systems, construction of bridges and similar large structures, light rail
infrastructure, concrete crushing, concrete batch plant operations and construction management.
For the year ended December 31, 2008, revenues increased 36% to $415.1 million from $306.2 million in 2007 and
net income increased 26% to $18.1 million from $14.4 million in 2007.
